It is summer time and I am so thankful! This winter was rough and spring in southern Ontario really stunk this year.
So, with temperatures climbing and thoughts of pools, splash pads and beaches at the front of my mind, I knew it was time to look for a new swim diaper for Anna.
I was lucky enough to win tickets to an event called The Babytime Show where there are hundreds of vendors selling everything related to baby and their mamas. I knew this would be a great opportunity to scope out some new swim diapers!
While browsing, my eye caught the Apple Cheeks logo. I loved the adorable colors and as an added bonus, the vendor was offering 10% off and no sales tax!
I am familiar with Apple Cheeks products, but I don’t own any cloth diapers yet. They have a great reputation as a wonderful Canadian company with awesome products made in Canada.
I have always liked the look of Apple Cheeks cloth diapers, and they replicated the same look with their swim diapers.
The swim diaper has two rows of snaps, one for the waist and one row for the hips. This helps ensure a snug fit regardless of whether or not your child has skinny or chunky thighs.
The diaper comes in two sizes. Size one is for approximately 7-20 pounds and size two is approximately 18-35 pounds. I purchased two diapers in size two in girly colors.
I usually try to buy things in gender neutral so I can reuse with future children, but the Pickled Pink and Samoan Sunset colors were just too cute!
The thing I really liked about the swim diaper is that it is super light and that it has a snap closure. The inner material is mesh, and it felt more “breathable” to me than previous swim diapers I have owned.
Many people get nervous about reusable swim diapers because they are afraid they won’t hold in pee or poop. The truth is that NO swim diaper will hold in urine and they are designed to contain only feces.
I am lucky enough to say at this point, I have yet to deal with a poopy swim diaper. But, I think having a swim diaper with a snap closure will make clean up an easy job if that were to ever be a problem.
Overall, I am definitely pleased with the swim diapers so far. The one thing I found that I didn’t quite like was the diaper sagged a bit in the back while Anna wore it.
I am not sure if that is because I didn’t quite have the fit right, or if that is just how the diaper is. I think that the more I use the product, the more I will be able to adjust it to fit without the sag.
A major bonus is that like all their products, these diapers do not leave noticeable lines on your baby around their waist or legs.
Many diapers and swim diapers I have leave red marks on my daughter, but not Apple Cheeks. I also love how trim it is under a swim suit.
Many times I will just let her run around in the swim diaper, but other times I like putting her in a suit. You can barely tell she is wearing one.
I know for my next baby, I will definitely be purchasing the size one swim diapers from Apple Cheeks!
