Bill couldn’t help but notice some peculiarities in his in-laws’ behavior related to their faith. They take their religious beliefs extremely seriously, often displaying an air of self-righteousness that seems excessive.

They Took It Personally

Also, any criticism of Mormonism was taken personally, as if it were a direct attack on them.

The Tattoo Incident

This attitude perplexed Bill, especially when he recalled an incident involving his tattoo artist sister. Bill shared the incident where his wife had planned to get a tattoo from her, which goes against Mormon beliefs.

This decision caused a massive problem, dragging his sister into a situation she had no connection to.

The Lunch

The story began during a lunch outing organized by his wife’s parents. Having a beer with meals was a family tradition for Bill, but Mormons are strictly against alcohol.

As a result, he got a beer to go with his meals. However, during lunch, he sensed a shift in his in-laws’ demeanor, and they left shortly after finishing their food, giving him the cold shoulder.

Initially, Bill didn’t think much of the situation. But later, he received a text from his father-in-law expressing disappointment at what he perceived as disrespect toward their faith during lunch.

Despite their heated exchange, Bill stood his ground, asserting that actions taken by someone who is not a Mormon should not be viewed as specific attacks on their faith.
