Rachel is six years older than her sister and has always felt obligated to care for her, “My sister is severely autistic. She requires attention almost 24/7 and cannot be left alone.”
A Tearful Admission of Second Best
From age six, Rachel’s world took an unexpected turn. “I was only six years old when she was born, and since then, I’ve never solely had my parents’ attention.”
Sent to the Basement
Rachel admitted she was moved out of her room and forced to stay in the basement to accommodate the new sibling, “I was moved out of my room into the basement at seven because she needed to be in the room next to my parents.”
Toys, Tears, and a Shocking Reality
“She destroyed all of my childhood toys, and my parents simply ignored me when I complained,” Rachel revealed.

As Rachel prioritized caring for her sibling, her dreams, and ambitions had to take a backseat. “I am expected to take care of her and drop everything I do for her.”
