In a recent statement, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis raised concerns about the former President, who is 77 years old, suggesting that he is not at the top of his game and heavily relies on Teleprompters when delivering speeches. Here’s the full story.
While on the campaign trail in New Hampshire on Tuesday, October 24, Governor DeSantis shared his belief that the former President has lost some of his political prowess, describing him as having “lost the zip on his fastball” and displaying a sense of entitlement.
Can’t Get off That Teleprompter
DeSantis said, “He can’t get off that teleprompter. Anytime he does, he says things like ‘Don’t vote.’ He’s telling people not to vote like we have all the votes we need.
Really? Wait a minute, you lost the popular vote to Hillary Clinton in 2016. You don’t have all the votes you need.”
Trump Has a Sense of Entitlement
DeSantis also contended that the former President no longer feels the need to earn his place as a candidate.
He said, “And so I think that it’s just shown this is a different Donald Trump in 2015 and 16. [He’s] lost the zip on his fastball, has a sense of entitlement — all this stuff — doesn’t think he has to go through and earn it like other candidates — and that’s just not going to fly in Iowa and New Hampshire.”
The Presidential Race
DeSantis added, “I’m glad that it works this way because I do think you’ve got to earn it. I think the voters expect that.
That’s the first thing. The second thing is I think Chris has said and I’ve said, we need a candidate that can win the general election.
There are too many people that just are not going to vote for Trump at this point, is my view and I think Chris’ as well.”
Entrance of Robert F. Kennedy Jr.
DeSantis also touched upon the entrance of Robert F. Kennedy Jr. into the presidential race.
According to DeSantis, Kennedy is likely to attract voters who are against lockdowns and skeptical of Dr. Anthony Fauci.
Will Clean the CDC
He posited that if he were to become the nominee, these voters would align with his campaign due to his strong stance against Fauci and his commitment to overhaul the CDC.
Trump Created Fauci
DeSantis said, “With Trump though, he created Fauci, he elevated Fauci — he never fired him. He said that he did everything right during Covid, claiming he saved 100 million lives, you know, with the mRNA vaccine and all this stuff.
And I think those voters who are understandably still very frustrated with how this federal government handled Covid, and the lies that were told and all the mistakes that were made with no accountability, they’re going to want a vessel for that.”
He Will Hurt Trump
“And I think they may default to Kennedy. So I think he will hurt Trump way more than he would hurt any other candidate. And that makes it even a tougher uphill battle,” he concluded.
“Less Than Acceptable Cognitive Abilities”
Several social media users expressed their views on the incident.
One Twitter user wrote, “DeSantis has less than acceptable cognitive abilities. The fascist supports Nazis and promotes bigotry.”
Ron Just Isn’t Smart Enough
Another user added, “Maybe Ron should have started his campaign with this? Bring up his lack of morality and honesty. Bring up all of his legal entanglements.
So many faults to be found and exploited, but he waited until his campaign and chances were tanking. Ron just isn’t smart enough to be the nominee (or governor for that matter.)”
Trump Only Has a Lousy Curve
A third user commented, “Ron must not have ever seen a fastball. Trump never had one to begin with. Trump only has a lousy curve and the rest is change-ups. Pretty much explains all his lies.”
Ron Lost It to Joe
A fourth user wrote, “Notice he says that Turnip lost the popular vote to Hillary, but fails to mention that he also lost it to Joe.”
