Recently, Joe Scarborough, host of MSNBC’s “Morning Joe,” took the opportunity to shed light on what he perceives as a disagreement within the Democratic Party regarding President Joe Biden’s age and fitness for the presidency. Here’s the full story.
The Discussion
During a segment on “Morning Joe,” guest David Ignatius voiced his opinion on President Biden’s prospects for the 2024 election.
Biden Should Search His Soul
Ignatius suggested that Biden should engage in introspection, encouraging him to “look in the mirror” and “search his soul” to decide whether he can secure victory in the upcoming election, especially if facing off against former President Donald Trump or a Trump-like Republican nominee.
The Hypocrisy
Scarborough, a seasoned political commentator, highlighted a phenomenon that is often attributed to Republicans who “will say one thing about Donald Trump off the air and another on air.”
He also claimed that Democrats are equally culpable of this behavior when it comes to discussing President Biden’s age.
Biden’s Too Old
Scarborough pointed out the apparent hypocrisy among Democrats, saying, “Well, let me just say, Democrats, off the air, will say ‘Joe Biden’s too old. Why is he running?’ On the air, they won’t say that.”
Biden Is Not Really Going to Run
“Everybody, we talk to, every political discussion, all it talks a lot about Trump, but when it comes to Joe Biden, people say, ‘Man, he’s too old to run. He’s, and I mean, he’s not going to; he’s not really going to run…'” Scarborough continued.
Every Democrat Agrees
“When I say every discussion, I don’t mean 99% of the discussion [s]. Every discussion,” he added.
“I asked Reverend Al if he was hearing it all the time on our show this past week. He’s hearing it as well. So, I commend David for at least raising the question,” he concluded.
Many Are Questioning
Concerns about the 80-year-old president’s ability to lead have been raised by members of both political parties.
In early September, President Biden himself addressed these concerns during a campaign stop in Philadelphia.
Biden Replied
Responding to the chatter about his age, he said, “I tell you what, someone said, ‘You know what? That Biden, he’s getting old, man.’
Well, guess what? Guess what? You know, the only thing that comes with age is a little bit of wisdom. I’ve been doing this longer than anybody, and guess what? I’m going to continue to do it, with your help.”
“His Age is Not Important”
Several social media users expressed their thoughts on the incident.
One user wrote, “His age is not important. However, his incompetence, ineptness, and stupidity are!!”
America Cannot Afford to Have Biden Again
Another user added, “As a lifelong Democrat, our country cannot afford to have either a too-old Biden or a too-superficial Harris run again for the White House.”
Age Is Just a Number
A third user commented, “Age is just a number, look at Warren Buffet no one would question his mind or sharpness. With Joe it’s stupidity.”
