The family, consisting of Mum, Dad, a Sister (Carol), and her husband (Paul), was excited about their upcoming adventure, which would last nearly two weeks.
The Awkward Room Dilemma
According to Carol, “Everyone seems to expect that my parents will share a bed, my sister and I will share a bed, and my husband will sleep on the floor,” Since this was the setup they used when her brother used to come on the trips.
Taking Action Against Her Family
Feeling uncomfortable with the sleeping arrangement, Carol took action.
Reluctant to Speak Out
Her parents were generously covering all expenses for the trip, making her hesitant to voice her concerns, but Carol thought that having Paul sleep on the floor was disrespectful to their relationship.

“My family is paying for this vacation because it is about 3 hours away from where we live and they are coming out specifically to spend time with us, knowing we don’t have much in the way of finances.” Carol admitted tearfully.

“I’m thinking maybe I also sleep on the floor in solidarity and let my sister have the bed, or us as a couple and my sister take turns sleeping on the floor.”
What’s the Big Deal?
Many users of Reddit argued that it’s not such a big deal having to sleep with your family-in-law, “I’ve slept so many random places that I wouldn’t care a drop – I’ve shared a hotel with my wife, her brother, and her father before.” One user shared.
