Nathan is a 25-year-old who recently purchased one of those compact, transportable washers without plumbing. He’d wanted one for years.

He washed and hung out his duvet cover, which for context, has multicolored pastel colors striped on one side and flowers on the other.
Neighbor Tells Her Kids to Stay Away From LGBTers
Unexpectedly, while hanging the washed duvet cover out, Nathan overheard derogatory remarks from his neighbor, Karen. She criticized the “LGBT” presence and expressed concerns about her daughters being influenced.
UGH!
Karen went on to say, “UGH. Stay away, girls. It’s one of those LGBTers again. I don’t want you getting any ideas!”
He Pointed Out the Irony
Responding to Karen’s comments, Nathan questioned why she was bothered by his laundry choices.

He playfully pointed out the irony of her own daughters wearing rainbow socks and pastel clothing.
She Accused Him of Spreading “The Gay Agenda”
In an unexpected turn, Karen accused Nathan of “spreading the gay agenda.”
Arguments Ensued
Frustrated by the baseless accusation, Nathan expressed his frustration. He slammed the window shut and responded, “I’m doing my laundry.”
The Confrontation
Nathan dropped his head to the open portion of his window and looked at what was happening, and he saw Karen hastily coming out of her apartment.
Attracting Attention
So Nathan also went outside to confront her. Upon stepping outside, Nathan discovered that Karen’s rant had attracted the attention of a few onlookers, creating an uncomfortable atmosphere.
She Was Yelling Outside
Karen was waiting, swinging her arms, and yelling at everyone about how Nathan was “spreading a toxic agenda.”
I’ll Call the Cops!
In response, he said, “If you don’t leave, the cops will get involved.”
He Explained What Really Happened
Nathan went on to say, “You’re screaming at me for something that doesn’t even exist when I’m literally just doing my laundry in my own house, and I’ve done nothing to anyone.
All Pride
However, if you’d like, I can show you the pride flag that hangs in my living room. Alternatively, perhaps I should hang my hot pink polka-dot underwear up with my skirt.”
She Fell Silent and Left
Karen fell silent, and Nathan motioned for her to leave, and she did so while still spewing her rants and rubbish.
Crying Kids
Her girls were visibly upset and staring at their phones with bright red faces.
