President Joe Biden recently made a series of claims about his presence at “every mass shooting,” a statement that fact-checkers have since debunked.

In a speech at the White House Rose Garden, President Biden addressed the launch of a new White House Office of Gun Violence Prevention, stating, “After every mass shooting, we hear a simple message – the same message all over the country. I’ve been to every mass shooting. ‘Do something. Please do something.’”
Debunking Biden’s Mass Shooting Lie
A fact-checking investigation revealed that President Biden’s claims of visiting “every” mass shooting site are far from accurate, even if we consider mass shootings during his presidency alone.
A One in Five-Hundred Visit
Minutes later in the speech, he claimed that “our country has experienced more than 500 mass shootings” in 2023, yet President Biden has made only one trip this year in connection to a specific mass shooting.
Counting Biden’s Visits on One Hand
In March 2023, President Biden visited Monterey Park, California, following a mass shooting at a dance studio in January.
He also traveled to Buffalo in May 2022 after a supermarket massacre, and to Uvalde, Texas the same month following a mass shooting at an elementary school.
Biden’s Mass Shooting Visits Since Becoming President
In 2021, he met with Asian American leaders in Atlanta after a shooting spree at spas resulted in the death of eight people, six of whom were women of Asian descent.
The Truth Behind Biden’s Visits
President Biden did not visit many other mass shooting sites during his presidency, including those that received significant national attention.
The Ones He Missed
He did not travel to the sites of shootings at a mall in Allen, Texas; farms in Half Moon Bay, California; a Christian school in Nashville; a bank in Louisville, Kentucky; a Walmart in Chesapeake, Virginia; or a parade in Highland Park, Illinois.

According to the Gun Violence Archive, a nonprofit that tracks mass shootings, there were 506 such shootings in 2023 at the time of President Biden’s speech.
