Former President Donald Trump recently voiced his frustration as he found himself attending his New York fraud trial instead of embarking on the 2024 presidential election campaign trail. Here’s the full story.
The Trial
During a break in the proceedings, reporters barraged Trump with questions over the botched attempt to install Rep. Jim Jordan as Speaker of the House.
He Criticized the Government
Trump voiced his concerns, criticizing the government’s handling of the case and the impact on his campaign aspirations.
Wasting a Lot of Time
Trump said, “I’ve been wasting a lot of time on a case that should have never been brought. You see what’s happening.
The government. The government lied. They just lied. They didn’t reveal all of the information that they had.”
Totally Misrepresented the Case
“They didn’t reveal all the evidence that made me totally innocent of anything that they said.
The government lied. They totally misrepresented the case,” he continued.
I’m Not Campaigning
“So, unfortunately, I have to be here, I’m not campaigning! I have to be here for this,” he added.
Trump also referenced the trial proceedings, drawing parallels to the iconic legal drama “Perry Mason.”
The Background
The fraud case, initially initiated by New York Attorney General Letitia James, is being overseen by Judge Arthur Engoron.
The Gag Order
On October 17th, Trump was also issued a gag order.
Replying to the order, Trump shared that the situation was “rigged” and said, “We’re being railroaded … You saw yesterday where they take away my right to speak, I won’t be able to speak like I’m speaking to you.”
Number One Candidate
Trump added, “And I’m not saying anything. Well, I’m telling the truth. I won’t be able to do this with that trial.
Because the judge, which of course, we’re appealing, because the judge said basically I don’t have a right to speak.
And I’m the number one candidate leaving the Republicans by 55 or 60 points. That should be over.”
The Criminal Charges
The former president currently faces 91 criminal charges spread across four indictments in New York, Washington D.C., Florida, and Georgia.
If convicted on all counts, Trump could potentially face a total sentence of 561 years in prison.
“Trump Can’t Help Himself”
Several social media users shared their thoughts on the incident.
One Twitter user wrote, “Trump can’t help himself. His ego won’t let him be quiet. He’s an embarrassment to himself and the American people.”
Sounds Like a Bank Error
Another user added, “I don’t get it. Everyone puts down the amount they believe is right.
Sometimes people make mistakes, but the loan officer would be the one to check if all that information is accurate before processing or approving the loan. It sounds like a bank error, not fraud by Trump.”
Everything That Doesn’t Go His Way Is Rigged
A third user commented, “Everything that doesn’t go his way is rigged. His world is crashing around him, from his own doing and it’s still rigged.”
Demented Democrats
A fourth user wrote, “The entire case is a fraud used by demented democrats that have weaponized our government against us and especially President Trump.”
