Katherine Feinstein, the daughter of Democratic Senator Dianne Feinstein from California, has recently lodged a court filing in which she claims her mother is a victim of elder abuse.
Failed to Fund a Trust
Katherine alleges that co-trustees responsible for a trust associated with her late stepfather, Richard Blum, have not fulfilled their obligation to fund a trust that Blum established before his passing.
His Trust Is Valued at $1 Billion
Richard Blum, who was valued at around $1 billion at the time of his death in February of last year, is the late husband of Senator Feinstein.
She Raised the Alarm
Katherine Feinstein, to whom Senator Feinstein recently surrendered partial power of attorney, brought her concerns to court on August 8th.
They Failed to Oversee the Trust Properly
She asserts that Michael Klein, Marc Scholvinck, and Verett Mims, individuals overseeing the trust, have failed to make the “required distributions” to her mother.
She Accuses Them of Financial Abuse
In the court filing, Katherine accuses the three men of financial elder abuse, alleging that they deliberately withheld regular payments from the fund with the intention of directing most of it to Blum’s children.
Her Mother Is the Sole Beneficiary
Senator Feinstein is the sole beneficiary of Blum’s fund. Katherine Feinstein was a teenager when her mother married the affluent investor.
She Wants the Men Suspended
Katherine has requested the court suspend Klein, Scholvinck, and Mims from their roles as managers of the account.
They Have Legal Representation
An attorney representing Klein and Scholvinck countered Katherine’s accusations on August 10th.
Standing by Their Actions
Attorney Steven Braccini disputed her claims of elder abuse, asserting that the trustees acted ethically and appropriately while criticizing Katherine Feinstein’s actions as self-serving.
