On October 10th, the royal couple used a Dassault Falcon 7X private jet for their journey from New Jersey to Canouan, a Caribbean island.

This lavish mode of travel was also repeated for their four-hour flight from Canouan to Atlanta, Georgia.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have consistently advocated for environmental causes and emphasized their commitment to sustainable living.

During their highly publicized interview with Oprah Winfrey two years ago, Prince Harry identified climate change and mental health as two of the most pressing global issues.

However, their recent choice of private jet travel has reignited past controversies.

In 2019, Prince Harry and Meghan faced intense scrutiny for taking four private jet flights in just 11 days, including a trip to Sir Elton John’s residence in Nice, France.

It is widely recognized that private jet travel contributes significantly more carbon emissions per passenger than commercial flights, casting a shadow on their green credentials.

The total mileage covered by the Sussexes during their recent private jet journeys exceeded 4,000 miles, resulting in an estimated 9.6 tons of CO2 emissions.

The revelation has led to questions about the couple’s commitment to environmentally friendly practices.

In response to the public’s concerns, a source close to Prince Harry explained that the Falcon 7X they used for their trip belonged to a friend with a property on Canouan.

Prince Harry has previously defended his travel choices, asserting that he takes commercial flights for 99% of his travel and occasionally uses private jets to ensure the safety of his family.

Critics Accuse Them of Hypocrisy

However, these justifications have not deterred critics. Former Member of Parliament and Liberal Democrat frontbencher Norman Baker accused the Sussexes of being hypocritical about the climate crisis.

Baker suggested that the couple’s travel habits were unnecessarily damaging to the environment, raising questions about the consistency of their stance on environmental issues.

In the world of climate change activism, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s choice of private jet travel after attending a conference on the mental health effects of climate change has brought their own environmental practices under scrutiny.
