He’s Very Sick
OP is a 30-year-old woman with a 16-year-old brother. He was born with a heart condition that has affected him his whole life.
He Can’t Be a Kid
Because of his bad ticker, OP’s brother hasn’t had a normal childhood.
He just can’t do the things that normal kids do.
They’re Tapped Out
And because of all the medical bills involved with her brother’s condition, OP’s parents always struggle with money.
There’s No Room for Fun
OP’s folks do good to pay their bills most of the time, so there’s never much left over for fun.
That means her brother doesn’t get many extras.
She Wants to Make Him Happy
Because of all that, OP tries to do nice things for her brother to bring him a little extra joy whenever she can.
He Loves Video Games
One of OP’s favorite things is playing video games.
But because there’s not much money to go around, he’s never had a console of his own.
But He Never Gets to Play
The only time the boy gets to play games is when OP’s uncle and cousins visit and bring their system along with them.
She Took the Plunge
After watching how much her brother loves to play, OP decided to take the plunge. She bought him an expensive gaming system and put it back to give to him at Christmas.
It Was Gone!
Recently, though, OP was looking through the closet where she had stashed the console and noticed that it wasn’t there.
She Confronted Him
Panicked, OP asked her boyfriend if he knew where the gaming system was.
They Disowned Her
As it turned out, OP’s boyfriend had taken the console and given it as a gift to his nephew.
He sent it to the boy because the family had disowned his sister after she mooched off all of them.
He Was Trying to Be Nice
OP’s fiance knew his nephew wouldn’t be getting many presents, so he thought it would be a nice thing to do.
He Had No Right
But OP couldn’t believe her boyfriend took the gaming system without even asking her!
She said he had no right to even touch the box.
He Was a Thief
OP also told her boyfriend that what he did was nothing less than theft.
He Thought She Loved the Boy
That made OP’s boyfriend mad, and he said he was hurt she was reacting that way.
He thought she loved his nephew, too.
She Loved Them Both
OP told her fiance that she did love the nephew, but that she loved her brother, too…and she bought the console for her bro.
He Couldn’t Use It
The fiance said that OP’s brother didn’t need a gaming console because he was too sick to play, anyway.
She Demanded Payment
That was the final straw for OP, and she demanded that her boyfriend either buy a new gaming system or pay her the money for the one he stole.
He Walked Out on Her
But OP’s fiance refused to pay, saying he couldn’t afford it.
He was also hurt and went to stay in a hotel for three days.
She Can’t Afford Another One
Now, OP is furious that her boyfriend stole from her and doesn’t know how she’s going to replace the gaming system to give to her brother.
She’s Gotta Do Something
