Former Attorney General Bill Barr recently shared his thoughts on former President Donald Trump’s vocabulary and mannerisms. Here’s what he said.
The Interview
On Thursday, October 26, speaking at an event for Harvard’s Institute of Politics, Barr engaged in a conversation with CBS Chief Correspondent Jan Crawford.
Is He Losing It?
Their discussion was sparked by a recent comment from Trump, who had referred to the Iran-backed Lebanese militant group as “very smart.”
Crawford said, “That was appalling. I mean, do you think he’s– is he losing it?”
Trump’s Verbal Skills Are Limited
In response, Barr said, “His verbal skills are limited. And so he, you know, if you get him away from ‘very, very, very,’ the adjectives sort of– they’re unfamiliar to him and they sort of spill out and he goes too far. You know, he’s not very disciplined when it comes to what he says.”
The Background
The incident that they were referring to took place earlier in October when Trump was delivering a speech in Florida.
Trump’s characterization of the Lebanese militant group as “very smart” generated significant backlash and drew comparisons to his previous remarks about world leaders.
A Very Petty Man
Barr did not stop at critiquing Trump’s vocabulary; he went on to describe the former president as “a very petty man.”
He suggested that Trump’s motivation for running for president again is rooted in a desire for “retribution” rather than a genuine commitment to public service.
Moving Toward Chaos
Barr expressed concern about the potential consequences, warning, “Things would start moving toward chaos.”
The High-Profile Fundraiser
Despite the barrage of criticisms aimed at Trump, he appears to remain focused on the success of his presidential campaign.
Recently Trump held a high-profile fundraiser on October 24 in Florida, raising an estimated $6 million for his campaign.
The Event
During the event, Trump spoke for an extended period, targeting his political opponents, President Joe Biden and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, while outlining his vision for a possible second term in the White House.
Polls Have Gone Up
Bill White, a close friend of Trump, praised the former president’s speech, saying, “While his polls have gone up, he said gloves are off with Biden.”
The fundraiser’s success was notable, considering Trump’s ongoing legal challenges, which include four indictments.
Acting Like Nothing’s Wrong
Although the legal pressure is intense, a source revealed that the former commander-in-chief seems unfazed.
He appears unruffled by the mounting legal issues and is “acting like nothing’s wrong.”
“I’ll Take My Chances”
Several social media users shared their thoughts on the incident.
One Twitter user wrote, “I’ll take my chances, Mr. Barr, on a second term for one of the best Presidents in U.S. history. Hopefully, he’ll do a better job of appointing an Attorney General than he did with you.”
Trump Is a Leader
Another user added, “That’s what makes him a good leader. He is a leader, not a follower. I want him to take down all those SOBs that I’ve done this stuff to. Bill Barr needs to spend time at Weight Watchers instead of on TV.”
Trump’s Ego
A third user commented, “Funny he should say that when it was Trump’s ego he pampered in order to get his position for his agenda – wanting the US to recognize Natural Law.”
